Principal's Message

Sams Valley Elementary School is a special rural
elementary school in Central Point School District 6.
We serve students in kindergarten through 5^th
grade. I feel grateful to be the principal of 250+
students who are actively engaged in learning both
in the classroom and outside.

We have some incredible programs at SVE which
help make the learning experience at SVE exciting
and unique! As expected, students have the
opportunity to learn core curriculum in the
classroom, but they also get the opportunity to
expand their learning through:
 Spread Your Wings (enrichment classes)
 Outdoor Education (5^th grade)
 Rogue Valley Farm to School (school gardening)
 School Archery Club (4^th & 5^th grade)
 SMART reading (Kindergarten)
 STEM learning in the makerspace
 School Yearbook Club (4^th & 5^th grade)
 Podcast Studio Projects
 Special Assemblies and Presentations
 PurposeFULL People (Social Emotional Learning program)
 Student Leadership (4^th & 5^th grade)

My personal philosophy is that our staff must put
students first. We must also provide instruction that is appropriate, rigorous, and differentiated based on
what the student specifically needs. Additionally, we
must provide learning opportunities that allow
students to make connections intellectually,
emotionally, and socially. If we do our part and
parents can support the learning as well, students
will thrive.

I have been an educator since 1995 and have taught in both Idaho and Oregon. I have experience
teaching all grades, K-8, as a regular education classroom teacher, a reading specialist, and a
music teacher. I became an administrator in 2018 after 23 years of teaching. I love working with kids and look forward to getting to know each one of them!
